Progress over perfection

Supply Chain Transparency

At A Glance

Small-batch production. Thoughtfully sourced materials. Ethical manufacturing partners. A commitment to doing better as we grow.

At Birdie & Claire, we believe in thoughtful choices, honest communication, and continuous improvement. We know you care about where your clothes come from and how they're made. So do we.

From fabrics to factories, take a closer look at the materials we use, the partners we work with, and the values that guide each step along the way.

We've done our best to explain our materials, partners, and practices in straightforward language. If you come across a term or certification you're not familiar with, we've created a Fashion Glossary with simple definitions. Our goal is transparency, not jargon.

Please note: This information is shared for educational purposes and reflects an overview of our current sourcing and production practices based on supplier-provided information. Details may be updated periodically as we grow and evolve.

Our Approach

We prioritize longevity over trend, quality over quantity, and responsibility over excess. Our supply chain reflects these values, even when that means moving more slowly or producing less.

We aim to:

  • Design high-quality, timeless pieces made to last
  • Keep production small, on-demand, or limited-run to reduce overstock and waste
  • Use materials that prioritize durability and environmental consideration
  • Work with manufacturing partners who align with strong labor values
  • Uphold supplier relationships rooted in transparency and mutual respect
  • Make decisions with both people and planet in mind

A Closer Look At How Our Pieces Come To Life

Sustainability isn't just about fabric. It's about who made it, how it was made, and how long it will last.

Every piece we offer is made-to-order or produced in small batches, never more than 50 units per style at a time. By using a slower, more intentional production model, we are able to reduce waste, avoid excess inventory, and honor the time and craft of everyone involved.

Materials We Use

We continuously seek out lower-impact materials and responsible sourcing practices. The materials below reflect the majority of our current style offerings and the reasons behind these selections. More detail is provided on each product page.

The People Behind Our Pieces

We collaborate with experienced partners who meet recognized labor standards. We value regular communication and long-term relationships built on shared ethics.

Below is an overview of where our products are made, with more detail provided on each product page.

Production Standards

Our manufacturers have signed an acknowledgement of these values based on the ILO guidelines. This includes commitments to:

  • No forced, bonded, or child labor
  • Safe and hygienic workplaces
  • Freedom of association and collective bargaining
  • Reasonable hours and fair compensation
  • Equal treatment and non-discrimination

Packaging & Shipping

Here is what we are currently doing in the fulfillment process:

  • Hangers: 100% recycled waste paper, fully biodegradable
  • Shipping: All online orders are carbon-offset through Shopify Planet

We are actively exploring compostable mailers and plastic-free packaging alternatives.

What We're Working On...

As we grow, we remain committed to expanding and improving our practices. Current areas of focus include (but are not limited to):

  • Incorporating more biodegradable and natural fibers
  • Expanding our network of traceable suppliers
  • Exploring what happens to your clothes after you’re done with them, including options for worn garments such as resale or recycling
  • Refining our packaging systems to eliminate single-use plastics
